So the whole world knows at this point that The Hobbit is going to made into a trilogy since Peter Jackson’s announcement on Monday July 30, 2012. And of course like anything happening in the film industry, there have been mixed reactions to this decision.

Personally, I’m more than thrilled because it means more story and character development. Tolkien had so much history written about these characters, and even the extended version of Lord of the Rings couldn’t cover all of it. I think this is a great opportunity to deeper explore Middle Earth.

Some people think this is just another way for Hollywood to squeeze more money out of its consumers, but as a huge Hobbit fan myself, I believe this is a gift to the fans. Peter Jackson is a fan, and I think that’s a huge influence on his decisions.

  • Is a trilogy a good idea or just another way to make more money?
  • Is there enough story in The Hobbit and the appendixes to make 3 movies?
  • 24fps or 48fps? Are you excited or weary of seeing this new format?

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet (which in my world I think would be an impossibility) here it is for your viewing.
