So if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard, The Hobbit is available in several different formats in theaters. Peter Jackson shot the film at a higher frame rate than the industry standard 24 fps with the idea that the image would be much clearer for the 3D experience.

I took it upon myself to test out all the versions to see which one did in fact create the most immersive experience. What I discovered was somewhat ironic.

So the whole world knows at this point that The Hobbit is going to made into a trilogy since Peter Jackson’s announcement on Monday July 30, 2012. And of course like anything happening in the film industry, there have been mixed reactions to this decision.

Personally, I’m more than thrilled because it means more story and character development. Tolkien had so much history written about these characters, and even the extended version of Lord of the Rings couldn’t cover all of it.
