I used to read books. I used to draw and paint. Every once in awhile, I even went outside. But that was when I didn’t have a laptop. And internet. No matter what I say or do, my time in front of a computer screen takes up no less than 5 minutes and often exceeds hours. It’s not healthy, as my growing rear-end can attest. 

Thankfully, I’ve found a number of “healthy reasons” to justify parking my behind at my desk. Educating myself on the intricacies of steampunk, the second industrial revolution, air ships, and the narcissistic personality disorder. Plumbing the depths of a sea of artists and their work. Watching Felicia Day try to practice parkour.

…yeah. That last one isn’t as “educational” as the rest, but it’s entertaining as all get out.

Remember how much fun Raiders of the Lost Ark was, and then how in the sequel people’s hearts were ripped from their chests before being lowered into a pit of fire? Yeah, those were good times. And then remember how campy A New Hope was, only to be followed by Han Solo being tortured and frozen in carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back?

I have been a fan of Joss Whedon for a while, and it has come to my attention that a lot of people haven’t known much about his work until his recent success with The Avengers. While I absolutely loved his work in the movie, it kind of makes me sad that some people only know him for that when he has done so much more amazing projects worth mentioning.

Some people may notice that The Avengers was above and beyond the usual super hero movie, but unless you’re a geek like me, you might not go home and think about that for days and try to pick apart every nuance of it.
