So the whole world knows at this point that The Hobbit is going to made into a trilogy since Peter Jackson’s announcement on Monday July 30, 2012. And of course like anything happening in the film industry, there have been mixed reactions to this decision.

Personally, I’m more than thrilled because it means more story and character development. Tolkien had so much history written about these characters, and even the extended version of Lord of the Rings couldn’t cover all of it. I think this is a great opportunity to deeper explore Middle Earth. Continue Reading…

The day has come and passed. The Dark Knight Rises premiered, had a strong opening weekend, and now as the fanfare dies out it’s time to sweep up the confetti, pull down the decorations, and get back to the day-to-day. BatWeek 2012 may be over, but we still want to know what you thought of the movie.

So, jump in on the comments and let’s keep this party rolling one more day.

Did the Dark Knight rise to your expectations, or were you disappointed?

What did you think of the way the saga wrapped up?

What do you think of the possible Batman reboot? Will it be a disaster even with Christopher Nolan producing?

If you haven’t seen it yet, WHY NOT???

If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, I’m sure you’re moments from wetting yourself with anticipation. Indulge us in this BatWeek Open Form: What’s your favorite Bruce Wayne/Batman actor?

For some of us, nostalgia may play a factor. For others, acting muscle, or wit and charm. Either way, there’s plenty to choose from.

So, jump in, leave a comment, defend your position. Even if you’re a *shudder* Joel Schumacher fan, explain your choice. Continue Reading…

About ten years ago, I remember when Spider-Man came out in theaters. It was really one of the first comic book movies that set the rest of them into motion. I loved it when it came out because it was fresh and exciting.

However, here we are again ten years down the road with The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer promised a darker, more intriguing version of the story, which might compel some people to give it a shot. Certainly the darker version of the Batman movies have been an amazing investment of time and money, digging deeper into Batman’s psyche and discovering what it truly means to be a hero.

But will The Amazing Spider-Man prove to be as worthy? Continue Reading…

Why aren’t you out catching something on fire? Shouldn’t you be smothering a charred meat stick with catchup? Why on earth are you online?! Well, since you’re here, let’s talk movies. Fourth of July-ish movies.

Do you have a movie tradition to mark the independence of you, me, and your annoying neighbors? Every Christmas I have to watch A Christmas Story , but my slot on July 4th is wide open. What are your favorite patriotic movies? Is there one you have to watch every year? Should I pass on that mayo that’s been sitting out since 10am?

It’s an Open Forum, so open your mouth… then type what you just said so we can read it… because we can’t hear what you’re saying.

Is your sense of fandom not satisfied with merely leaving a comment? Fret not, we have a Facebook Poll going on too!

Here’s a few of our favorites: Continue Reading…

I’m going to go ahead and take a stand and say that I think Kristen Stewart sucks. I really liked Snow White and the Huntsman, and I think the performances were all pretty strong…except for Snow White, the main character of the movie!

I get why she was probably cast. Movie making is a business, and unfortunately because of her horrible contribution to the Twilight films, her addition to the film can almost guarantee a certain age bracket.

But Kristen Stewart as Snow White?! Really guys??? Continue Reading…

I love Tim Burton. I love Johnny Depp. I have loved their work in the past, but I am really starting to think they need some time apart. I saw Dark Shadows recently, and I was a little disappointed. Are we going to have to see Captain Jack Sparrow in every Johnny Depp film these days? Also, Tim Burton’s stories are starting to feel a little dry. I’ve actually been bored in the last few films he has made. Continue Reading…

Remember how much fun Raiders of the Lost Ark was, and then how in the sequel people’s hearts were ripped from their chests before being lowered into a pit of fire? Yeah, those were good times. And then remember how campy A New Hope was, only to be followed by Han Solo being tortured and frozen in carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back?

What’s with sequels going all dark and violent? Can we expect a similar treatment of Avengers 2? Continue Reading…

Okay. Hopefully by now you’ve seen The Avengers at least twice. If you haven’t, get off my website. We’re not friends.

There was a lot of debate both before and after The Avengers was released about Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner (Hulk). Prior to The Avengers, I had no idea who Ruffalo was. The previews weren’t too kind to him either; he appeared a nobody in a sea of Robert Downy Jr., Scarlet Johansson, that chick from How I Met Your Mother, and Scarlet Johansson.

In this, our very first Open Forum, I want to hear what you have to say on the issue: Continue Reading…
